F A M I L Y I ran into a stranger as he passed by, "Oh excuse me please" was my reply. He said, "Please excuse me too; I wasn't watching for you." We were very polite, this stranger and I. We went on our way and we said goodbye. But at home a different story is told, How we treat our loved ones, young and old. Later that day, cooking the evening meal, My son stood beside me very still. When I turned, I nearly knocked him down. "Move out of the way," I said with a frown. He walked away, his little heart broken. I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken. While I lay awake in bed, God's still small voice came to me and said, "While dealing with a stranger, common courtesy you use, but the family you love, you seem to abuse. Go and look on the kitchen floor, You'll find some flowers there by the door. Those are the flowers he brought for you. He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue. He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise, you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes." By this time, I felt very small, And now my tears began to fall. I quietly went and knelt by his bed; "Wake up, little one, wake up," I said. "Are these the flowers you picked for me?" He smiled, "I found 'em, out by the tree. I picked 'em because they're pretty like you. I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue." I said, "Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today; I shouldn't have yelled at you that way." He said, "Oh, Mom, that's okay. I love you anyway." I said, "Son, I love you too, and I do like the flowers, especially the blue." FAMILY Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of days. But the family we left behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives. And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more into work than into our own family, an unwise investment indeed, don't you think? So what is behind the story? Do you know what the word FAMILY means? Hellooooooooooooooooo!!

Hi Everyone!!

Well greetings from burning California :} I hope this posting reaches everyone healty and happy - we are trying hard to stay indoors and not breath the thick brown smokey air!! I know we have been on the MIA list but things here are typically crazy. I decided that taking on a second job was a great idea - so I have been working late into the night every night. I try to keep reminding myself that there is now and never has been a person who on their death bed wished they had worked another day!!

So we are preparing for our annual Boo B Que and will be posting the thrilling pics from this annual event - this year it is the Mad Scientist and Mausoleum - we have a graveyard movie theater (outdoor of course) The pool will have dry ice and is the fog bog, I will take pics of all the decorations. The food is a whole other thing I am going to post some of last years pics so you all can see. In the meantime we all send out love, all of the little kiddos are great - Amelia has 4 teeth, Jayden and Logan are in public school for the first time - there are stories to tell!!

Fall Fun

We have really enjoyed fall this year. It has been quite pleasant, only a couple really cold days so far, and since it hasn't frozen, the leaves had a chance to turn colors and actually fall off the trees. Jess, you would love the sweater weather. Anyway, one week before Halloween and all's good in Pocatello.

I just had to share a few things. # 1 two great recipes that go so well with the fall weather. Green Muffins...
3 cups flour
1 Tbs Baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
2 eggs
1/2 c milk (rice milk works well)
1/2 c oil
1/2c sugar (brown or white you choose)
2 c shredded zuchinni and apple. (I just shredded these with the cheese grater although the kids prefer the apples cubed)

preheat oven to 375 stir it all up and bake 20 min or until they are golden brown. mmm

Breakfast Oatmeal Pudding. So good that Liam had three helpings today
2 3/4 c old fashioned oats uncooked
1/2 c brown sugar
3/4 c raisins(we skipped this step, Liam and Isa are boycotting raisins)
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
3 1/3 c milk (again rice milk works great!)
4 egg whites
1 t vanilla
preheat oven to 350. spray and 8 inch square glass baking dish
combine all the ingredients together pour in and bake for 50-60 min
cook until center is set and firm to the touch Cool slightly serve with milk or yogurt and fruit if desired store leftover pudding tightly covered in refrigerator.

I thought this poem really hits the nail on the head some days are just not so easy to figure out why we are upset and I think this answers that question. Anyway, my week has been a great one now that the lice are gone. I read this last night and just thought it was too perfect to keep to myself. Anyway, I love you all. Enjoy my photoless post. Random photos and lice

OK let's see here, I thought I would post some super cute photos of the kids and then add some not so cute photos of the lice experience. Enjoy the joy of our October...May I just say that having lice and not dryer sucks! The best part of having the lice, was the break from babysitting. I guess sometimes Heavenly Father just has to say slow down NOW!! It takes headlice to make me listen. Yep, love those two by fours upside the head. hee hee...Okay I can't post pictures at the moment so you will have to imagine my face as I am picking nits out of Liam's hair. It was a joyful moment let me tell you! I'll try again on the photos later.

Just for Beema

Beema sent Emery a new dress and I took some photos and wanted to share them with you all. She is such a bug and makes us all smile. It seems she is a bit of a model as well! Love ya

Baby loves

Emery loves babies. She gives them so many kisses and hugs. I love it. These where he kisses and hugs for Meredith. She is so happy. I love kids!

Happy Birthday Matthew and Mark!!!!

Alhough I did not forget Price's birthday I did forget to wish our Matthew and Mark a very happy day!!! WE love you Matt and Mark and hope you both had a great day!

Happy Birthday Price

I must be a very bad mom to have let my middle child down. After all I could never forget the birthday of my only son who happens to be a father!

Actually I keep remembering to post when I am in bed at night and unable to gather enough energy to get up and move. I apologize for my lack of advance preparation once again but I do want to remind the slighted party that he is the only one to receive the gift of chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, peas and cherry cheese cake for his birthday dinner. Everyone else is going to have to make due with whatever they can scrape together by themselves.

I also want to be recognized for having placed fairly cute pictures of him on this blog! I have far worse to share!

Happy Birthday to Me

Apparently I do not get a birthday picture on the family blog. Perhaps this is because I do not rank high enough on the family food chain to deserve the same recognition as the first born and the baby. Perhaps it is because I am the only one who actually came home for their birthday, and the powers that be see that as being "good enough" (though I do believe that the parents are more excited to see Aiden than me). (Sarah says that this last statement is truly justified since Aiden is much cuter than I am!!!!)

Personally, I believe that this terrible injustice has been performed simply because I am the MIDDLE CHILD. If I were in fact otherwise positioned within the family I might have been endowed with a happy (though somewhat scarring) picture of myself which could be joyfully mocked by all who stumble upon this family blog. But alas this is not the case and I am forced to sing a solitary out of tune Happy Birthday Song to myself. I hope you are all happy with the further emotional scarring that you have all inflicted upon this once happy individual. I will end my emotional, middle-child-syndrome-fueled tirade now and drown my sorrow in a bag of candy corn.
